This NPC is difficult to plan for because the rules alternate on a regular basis. I had general success with this, but where it really shines is when the reverse rule is in effect. You essentially just need to play him a few times to get a feel for what cards are safe to play to avoid falling into the plus trap. Dominate the right and bottom sides of the board and leave the upper left for last. He frequently finishes off with Hisui & Kurenai in the top left corner, which has a 2 on its right side, so save one of your cards with a 1 facing left to pick up the win. I did this many times on reverse, but the card took a very long time to drop for me. Good luck!
